Africa International House

Established in 1984, Africa International House (AIH) manages the African Festival of the Arts in Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago, an annual two-day cultural event featuring live musical performances, cultural cuisine, and nearly 300 local, national, and international artists’ vendor booths. The Festival draws nearly 100,000 patrons to its south side location, approximately 65 percent of whom are African or African American. This award supports small-scale research, as well as travel and meetings while the organization plans for a future international cultural exchange project with artists based in Liberia.
