Established by statute, the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) is the administrative arm of the Illinois Supreme Court, with responsibility for the management of the Judicial Branch budget, for the collection and analysis of statewide data, and for statewide support, training, and technical assistance for the courts and probation. Illinois recently enacted a historic statewide criminal justice reform measure, which will among other things completely eliminate the practice of imposing cash bail as a condition of pretrial release across the state. AOIC has been charged with responsibility for implementing this reform over the next two years. This grant provides support to enable AOIC to effectively seize this unprecedented reform opportunity, including funding for project management, communications, organizational design, transition planning, and other services that will be required.
