Trafficked tells the story of how slavery operates in the United States today. The film uncovers the lives of those who are smuggled to the U.S. and forced to work in low-paid industries while exposing a criminal underground of traffickers, middlemen and sub-contractors who feed this cheap labor to U.S. companies. Unable to pay off their debts, these workers remain in perpetual bondage, and are often coerced, beaten or sexually assaulted if they threaten to escape. This epidemic goes unnoticed by most Americans, although these victims are often hiding in plain sight.
