Jonathan works with the Chicago Commitment team with a primary focus on the Advancing Leadership and the Culture, Equity, and the Arts grantmaking areas.
Jonathan has over two decades of experience in philanthropy and nonprofit management, with deep expertise in the arts sector and organizational leadership. He worked for more than eight years with Arts Alliance Illinois, most recently as its Deputy Director for Civic Engagement, overseeing innovative arts advocacy initiatives. He also served as a consultant to the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation on its arts and culture grantmaking. Prior to these roles, Jonathan worked as a community organizer for the Field Museum’s environmental conservation efforts on Chicago’s South Side and led health care equity campaigns as Health Care Justice Director for the Illinois Campaign for Better Health Care. He has also served as Executive Director of the St. Louis Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition; Policy Advisor for the Michigan House of Representatives; Founding Executive Director of Urban Produce; and adjunct faculty member in nonprofit management at North Park University.
Jonathan earned a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree from North Park University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Calvin University.
