Eric manages the Foundation’s global public equity portfolio. His primary responsibilities include strategy selection and execution, portfolio construction and analysis, and market research.
Before joining the Foundation, Vaang was an investment consultant at Mercer Investment Consulting where he performed quantitative and qualitative analysis on investment managers and their strategies for a variety of institutional clients. Prior to this, Vaang was a portfolio manager in Northern Trust’s Quantitative Management group where he managed passive and enhanced equity portfolios. Vaang began his career as a child care worker for abused and neglected children in Addison, Illinois.
Vaang holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in analytic finance, econometrics, and international business. He is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and member of the CFA Institute.
