Eric Sears

Eric leads MacArthur’s Technology in the Public Interest program that is focused on strengthening civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age and building the ecosystem of organization’s addressing the social implications of artificial intelligence-related technologies.

He has previously worked at Human Rights First in New York City and Amnesty International USA in Washington, D.C. where he carried out a range of research and advocacy initiatives. While at Amnesty, Eric launched and managed the organization’s campaign aimed at reforming U.S. counterterrorism policies and helped create the organization’s Crisis Prevention and Response program.

Eric is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Partnership on Artificial Intelligence. He holds a Masters of Science from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Louis University.
