Joanna supports efforts to measure, evaluate, and learn from the Foundation’s programming. In this role, she spends the majority of her time overseeing external and internal evaluations of programmatic strategies and providing ongoing technical assistance to Foundation staff.
Previously, Joanna served as Associate Director of Monitoring & Evaluation at Heartland Alliance International (HAI), where she led the development and implementation of an organization-wide monitoring and evaluation system. Prior to that role, she worked as a Program Officer at HAI’s headquarters office in Chicago, where she managed and provided evaluation support to human rights-based programs in the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia, and the Caribbean. Before moving to Chicago, she worked as an independent evaluation consultant for several grassroots and international non-profit organizations based in Cambodia.
Joanna received a Master of Social Work in International Development & Research from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. She actively contributes to the American Evaluation Association, serves on the Board of Directors for Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and is a member of Northwestern’s University’s Council of One Hundred.
