Steven is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the grants management team. In that capacity, he manages a team of six Grants Managers and advises staff on grant structure and compliance. He is responsible for ensuring that the right grants management systems, processes, and practices are in place to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Foundation.
Before joining the Foundation in May 2000, Steven was an Accounting Manager for McDonald's Corporation in Oak Brook, IL. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Host Committee Coordinator for the National Governors' Association, and the Controller of a Milwaukee-based construction firm.
Steven was elected to the board of PEAK Grantmaking in 2018. He is also very active in his community; his affiliations include the local and national Urban League chapters, Food Desert Action, NFP, Neighborhood Housing Services, The Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission, and the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) initiative.
He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of the District of Columbia and his Master's degree from Marquette University, both in Business Administration. Steven was a German Marshall Fund Fellow in 2004.
