White House Urban Affairs Director Addresses New Communities Program Annual Assembly

The White House sees Chicagos New Communities Program as a source for ideas on urban revitalization for the nation, the director of the White House Office of Urban Affairs, Adolfo CarriĆ³n, Jr., told 500 local leaders, community activists, and volunteers at the programs annual assembly. The New Communities Program, the nations largest community and economic development effort, is a MacArthur-supported initiative to improve 16 low-income Chicago neighborhoods.
