Work to mitigate climate change can also improve health and add years to people’s lives. The 2021 Air Quality Life Index report shows how pollution cuts life spans by 2.2 years on average and by 5 years or more in the most polluted regions. The report from grantee Energy Policy Institute at University of Chicago (EPIC) connects climate-friendly policies that reduce fossil fuels to reducing this pollution and improving people’s health.
