A report by the International Detention Coalition explores various approaches states can take to respond to new refugee, asylum-seeker, and migrant arrivals. The MacArthur-supported report identifies 250 examples from 60 countries of alternatives to immigration detention that respect fundamental rights, are less expensive, and are equally or more effective than traditional border controls.
