Beyond Transparency

The book “Beyond Transparency: Open Data and the Future of Civic Innovation” analyzes how open data is being used to effect social change. The book, edited by Brett Goldstein, Senior Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Harris School for Public Policy, explores case studies in which practitioners and policymakers are using open data to make more effective decisions, spur economic activity, and empower citizens to take an active role in improving their communities. Foundation grantees, including the Smart Chicago Collaborative, contribute chapters to the book, which was published by Code for America.
