Examining Nutrition in the School Feeding Program

The school feeding program has reduced absenteeism from schools in some Nigerian states, but many of the meals are lacking in the promised nutritional standards. An investigative report from the International Centre for Investigative Reporting, a grantee, found that vendors are not consistently compensated, portion sizes are too small, and government suppliers often fail to provide adequate ingredients. Parents, schools, vendors, and children alike are demanding improvements and more monitoring of the program.
