The 2035 Report on transportation shows that all new cars and trucks could be electric by 2035, and electric vehicles will be more affordable than gasoline equivalents in the next five years. With infrastructure investment for power supply, a 90 percent clean energy grid, and ubiquitous new electric cars by 2035, the reduction of air pollution can save 150,000 lives and save over one trillion dollars in health costs. The report and policy paper, a collaboration between grantees GridLab and the Goldman School of Public Policy at University of California Berkeley, recommends the policies that would make this possible including stronger standards for fuel efficiency, labor, and vehicle emissions.
