On September 16, about 200 people with an interest in the future of Africa gathered in New York for the announcement of the second phase of the Partnership for Higher Education in Africa. MacArthur, Ford, Rockefeller, and Carnegie are the partners in this work, which to date has brought more than $150 million to the work of strengthening higher education in six African countries—Ghana, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and, of course, Nigeria, where MacArthur has focused its efforts.
