U.S.-based journalists face escalating safety threats as they cover dangerous and unpredictable environments. MacArthur grantees Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Women’s Media Foundation launched the U.S. Journalist Rapid Response fund, debuting in Minnesota.

Small grants will go to independent journalists and local newsrooms to acquire safety equipment, medical and mental health support, and other related services. Equipping journalists with safety tools and care can help them continue to do their jobs providing reliable information to the public.
