Visitor Requirements
All visitors to the MacArthur Foundation are expected to adhere to our safety standards including:
- Following our required safety protocols detailed below
- Not holding the Foundation liable for contracting COVID-19 or other illnesses as a result of visiting the Foundation
Navigating to Our Offices

Our headquarters are located in the historic Marquette Building in the heart of the Loop in downtown Chicago. The entrance to the building is at the corner of W. Adams Steet and S. Dearborn Steet.

Once you have entered the Marquette Building lobby, check in at the security desk. Please be prepared to present a photo ID with your name on it to building security. Acceptable forms of ID include Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, Student ID, Company or Employee ID. Then, take an elevator to the 12th floor where you may proceed to the check-in station at the reception desk.
Safely Check In
All visitors to the Foundation’s offices are required to safely check in and provide specific information, in accordance with our visitor policy.
This information will be collected using an automated questionnaire, either when you pre-register online or in person at our reception desk. If you check-in in person, you will have the option to use a tablet device, provided by the Foundation, or to scan a QR code and respond to the questionnaire on your own device. Before your arrival, please ensure you can provide the information below and respond to the attestations:
- Name
- Email Address
- Organization
- Meeting Host
If you answer “No” to any of these questions, you will not be admitted to the Foundation offices. In the event of not being admitted, please contact your MacArthur Foundation host to determine next steps.
Plan Your Route
If arriving by car, there is no onsite parking in front of the Marquette Building. One of the closest and more convenient parking garages is located at 17 E. Adams Street, Chicago, IL 60603. Travel to the Foundation can easily be accomplished through public transportation (bus, train, commuter rail) using the Chicago Transit Authority or Metra Rail trip planner tools.
