The Hypocrites Theater Chicago is a leading storefront theater company founded in 1997 that blends serious theater and humor. Its interpretations of historic plays and productions of new work have received numerous awards and achieved critical and box office success. It is presenting six shows in the 2015-2016 season. A MacArthur Award recognizes organizations that have impactful programs, that are well-managed, and that are at an inflection point, where they are likely to grow either in size or influence. The Hypocrites will use most of the MacArthur Award funds to establish a cash reserve; a small portion of funds will support developing and implementing a diversity and inclusion initiative.
