$150,000

Whose Streets? is a documentary film about the racial justice movement catalyzed by the 2014 police shooting of an unarmed African American teenager, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri. The filmmakers began filming in the days that followed the shooting, capturing ordinary citizens, artists, musicians, teachers, and parents as they coalesced and organized themselves to provoke a larger, national conversation about the systemic problems brought to the forefront by Brown's death. The outcome of this grant will be a feature-length documentary for television audiences that can be used by policymakers and advocacy groups working towards racial justice.
