Rebuild Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to art, cultural development, and neighborhood transformation. It supports artists and strengthens communities by providing free arts programming, creating cultural amenities, and developing affordable housing, studio, and live-work spaces. The Foundation’s recommended program-related investment loan will accelerate the organization’s ability to expand its real estate development activity by providing it with financing for (a) property acquisition, (b) predevelopment expenses, and (c) bridging to other sources of public and/or private financing. The organization will use proceeds of the Foundation’s PRI loan to turn at least five vacant buildings or parcels of land into art and cultural spaces in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago. Ultimately, these places will be used as a platform for Rebuild to produce art programs and provide support to artists living and working in the neighborhood.
