Established in 1999, the Pastoral Resolve (PARE) is a nonprofit organization that works to encourage education for nomadic girls and boys and improve community livelihoods. A previous Foundation award enabled PARE to educate and support community networks to track and advocate for accountability in managing the Universal Basic Education (UBE) funds in Kaduna State. With this final award, PARE improves citizens' involvement in local governance by empowering community members to track and report on UBE funds and advocate for accountability. PARE strengthens and trains community actors, including school-based management committees, parent-teacher associations, school and local government administrators, teachers, and traditional and religious leaders and staff to track and report on the UBE matching-grant funding. The award contributes to On Nigeria's efforts to promote fiscal accountability in the education sector and is expected to contribute to On Nigeria's goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.
