The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences (MSSES), founded in 1994, provides advanced Western-style training in applied social science fields. Renewed MacArthur funding will enable this center of excellence to build on its existing work and maintain its independence from government interference. The grant will be used by MSSES to develop new tuition-generating programs and to build up its fundraising and public relations capacities. Through these activities, the School plans to raise its profile in the Russian educational market, increase tuition revenues, and achieve greater financial sustainability.
