2026 (1 year)
$100,000

Established in 1973, Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA) is the only pro bono legal service organization in Illinois that focuses exclusively on the arts. LCA’s referral service draws upon the organization’s extensive network of attorneys to offer pro bono legal assistance to artists, arts nonprofits, and creative businesses that otherwise could not afford it. LCA-recruited attorneys specialize in copyright law, licensing, work authorization for international artists, taxation, contract negotiation, and other areas of law important to the arts. This gift provides general operating support to LCA.

2022 (1 year)
$25,000

Established in 1973, Lawyers for the Creative Arts is the only Illinois provider of pro bono legal services dedicated to individuals and organizations in all areas of the arts. In addition to their legal referral services, Lawyers for the Creative Arts offers seminars and workshops for artists, arts administrators and lawyers seeking to expand their content knowledge in different legal areas. With this award, Lawyers for the Creative Arts convenes a group of performing arts organizations around capacity building and sustainability, coming out of the pandemic. These convenings inform the development of new services and educational programs to assist the performing arts community.
