Caring Across Generations hosts an event in Chicago, IL celebrating the power of storytelling and featuring authors and changemakers sharing stories of care, caregiving, and connection. In a public panel, MacArthur Fellows Hanif Abdurraqib (2021), Ai-jen Poo (2014), and Jason Reynolds (2024) explore the wide range of care stories in their respective work— both fiction and lived experiences—and foster connection with and among the audience. The Fellows connect their storytelling to timely cultural realities and offer space for exploration with family caregivers and care advocates.

Caring Across Generations (CAG) is a national coalition of 200 advocacy organizations working to transform the long-term care system in the United States through federal and state policy advocacy, research, culture change strategies, and caregiver organizing and leadership development. This grant provides general support to CAG to increase public support for comprehensive care infrastructure at the state and federal levels and to use mass media and popular culture to change the narrative about care in this country from a responsibility that falls to individual family members to a collective issue deserving of collective solutions. Its goal is to ensure all Americans have equitable access to the care they need throughout their lifespans.
