Founded in 1997, the mission of the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council is to create a safer community, improve the learning environment at public schools, preserve affordable housing, provide a voice for youth, protect immigrants' rights, promote gender equity, and end all forms of violence. Located on Chicago's southwest side, the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council works with a network of local community organizations and institutions to address community needs in the areas of education, health, public safety, and economic stability. Since the work of its neighborhood network formally launched six years ago, Brighton Park Neighborhood Council and its organizational affiliates have focused their collective attention on the implementation of the education and health issue strategies. This award enables Brighton Park Neighborhood Council to advance the coalition's agenda and address the remaining network priorities of public safety and economic stability.
