Block Club Chicago

Block Club Chicago (Block Club) is a nonprofit news organization that provides reliable, nonpartisan coverage of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods with a reporting staff that mirrors the diversity of the communities they serve. Since launching in 2018, Block Club Chicago has found a loyal and growing audience and attracted national attention for its model. This grant provides general operating support for Block Club Chicago. The intended outcome is continued and expanded accurate, nuanced, and comprehensive coverage of Chicago’s neighborhoods, particularly South and West side neighborhoods that have historically been neglected or misrepresented by mainstream news outlets.
