Located in New York, Behavioral Insights U.S., Inc. is a subsidiary of the United Kingdom-based Behavioral Insights Team (BIT), a social purpose company dedicated to helping organizations use behavioral insights to achieve social goals and evaluate how best to achieve impact. With a previous award, BIT supported On Nigeria grantees and other practitioners to apply human-centered design and behavioral techniques to their anti-corruption work. The team also worked intensively with a small group of organizations to design, conduct, and evaluate their behavior change projects. With this renewal award, BIT continues to provide tailored technical support to these organizations. It is also conducting two rigorous evaluations of how entertainment programming works to influence behavior. Finally, the BIT team is facilitating a hands-on, user testing workshop for organizations to learn methods for pre-testing their behavior change interventions before implementation. The expected outcomes are a group of Nigerian organizations with the in-house knowledge and skills to use behavioral science approaches to improve anti-corruption efforts, a tested set of anti-corruption interventions, and published research on how entertainment can influence norms and behaviors. This award contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation by strengthening grantee partner behavior change skills and adding to the global knowledge base about anti-corruption and behavior change.
