Mark Fitzsimmons is Associate Director of the MacArthur Fellows Program.  Prior to joining the Foundation in 1996, Fitzsimmons served on the faculty in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  He holds a B.S. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Anatomy from the University of Rochester, and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.  He is currently a member of the Board on Life Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences.
