This list organizes current and previous recipients of the MacArthur Fellowship based on areas of principal focus. It is intended solely to provide a sense of the range and breadth of their activities collectively. The selection process considers each nominee's creative efforts as a whole, not just with respect to their contributions to a particular discipline or field. Because MacArthur Fellows often cross disciplinary boundaries, readers should not interpret a specific entry as fully descriptive or infer that nominees are chosen on the basis of their fit within any of the categories on this list. There is no such thing as a MacArthur Fellow “in” a specific field.
