Grants to Radio Diaries
2013 (Duration 1 year)
NEW YORK, NEW YORK — Radio Diaries is a non-profit organization that produces personal audio documentaries exploring the human sides of social issues. Radio Diaries' documentaries are broadcast on NPR's All Things Considered, where they reach an audience of 12 million per broadcast, as well as on other news outlets internationally and online. Radio Diaries gives ordinary people audio recorders and works with them to report on their own lives and histories; it also creates audio documentaries on recent historical events featuring the personal reflections of people who experienced them. A MacArthur grant will support staff salaries, consulting producer fees, and technical costs associated with production.
