Grants

2015 (5 years)
$1,750,000

Public Radio International (PRI) is a major producer/distributor of content for the public radio system. PRI’s The World, its signature program, is a daily global news program that explains the important international news of the day and helps audiences understand how foreign events and issues connect to local and domestic priorities. It is a co-production of PRI, WGBH in Boston, and the BBC World Service. In September 2015, The World announced an acquisition of the reporting and digital assets of GlobalPost, a six-year-old, online-only international news provider that was in its early days a very influential and well-read news site.  With this acquisition, The World adds to its already substantial reporting capacity and greatly enlarges its potential to reach a non-public radio audience online.
