Fauna & Flora International acts to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take into account human needs. The team in Uganda will apply this approach to evaluating ecological and cultural values of Sango Bay, Musambwa Island and Makanaga Wetlands with a view to establishing a community conservation area for each, as well as developing opportunities for improved livelihoods through better management of resources, especially fisheries and agricultural practices, as well as developing nature-based tourism opportunities. The team will use lessons learned to build interest in and capacity for community based-management regionally.

Flora and Fauna International (FFI) works to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide. The purpose of the grant is to reduce pressures on grassland ecosystems in the Sanjiangyuan region of northwest China’s Qinghai Province. The result of the project will be improved management of key grassland habitats and reduced pressure on this ecosystem from overgrazing. Project activities will pursue a longer term goal of encouraging wide spread public investment in traditional approaches to grassland management.

To build a new generation of scientists from highly qualified and experienced Cambodian conservation leaders and biologists in the governmental, non-governmental and academic sectors (over 6 months).
