NEW YORK, NEW YORK — The Futuro Media Group (Futuro) is a nonprofit journalism organization founded by veteran broadcast journalist Maria Hinojosa in 2010. Futuro produces "Latino USA," a weekly public radio program heard on NPR, which offers a mix of in-depth explanatory reporting, on-the-ground coverage of timely issues, and first-person commentary, with a focus on current and emerging issues that affect the United States' growing and increasingly diverse Latino communities. The documentary journalism series "America by the Numbers" will premiere in 2014 on PBS and WORLD Channel, which uses data about the changing demographics of the United States as the catalyst to explore underreported issues faced by communities of color.
