Early findings in the Foundation’s How Housing Matters competitive research effort demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of providing permanent supportive housing with services for chronically-homeless individuals, where its cost is offset by substantial reductions in acute care use. The Corporation for Supportive Housing is a national, non-profit organization that provides expertise, leadership, advocacy, and financial support to make it easier to create and operate housing with services to prevent and end homelessness. It will use this grant to convene leaders from seven cities across the country to share promising practices in using Medicaid, which traditionally pays for medical costs, to fund permanent supportive housing services for chronically-homeless individuals.
