Grants

2016 (3 years 4 months)
$500,000

Established in 1950, the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) is a federation of local associations of obstetricians and gynecologists. With a membership of 30,000 professionals, FOGSI works to promote women's health. This award supports FOGSI to initiate a maternal health quality improvement program in small and medium-sized private sector facilities serving women from lower socio-economic communities in the three states of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The project establishes a National Quality Management Unit to drive technical leadership for quality improvement in private sector facilities, and ultimately enable these facilities to secure accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Health Care Providers (NABH), the agency that certifies healthcare facilities. The project creates a feasible pathway for strengthening quality of care in the private sector across the country.
