Community Life Project (CLP) is one of Nigeria's leading civil society organizations, working to promote inclusive civic engagement, voice, and agency of disadvantaged grassroots communities. Established in 1995, CLP's mission is to reduce human suffering by empowering citizens to be positive change agents. CLP works in Ekiti and Osun states, in southwest Nigeria, where it has built a robust community movement comprising advocates organized around participatory budgeting and resource tracking. With this final award, CLP strengthens diverse local voices and their skills for identifying and prioritizing constituency projects in their communities. CLP also collaborates with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to track constituency projects. CLP advocates for Open Government Partnership principles at the state level and complements other grantees by amplifying media and journalism cohort reports and need-based budgeting. This project is implemented in coordination with other Foundation grantees, particularly those focusing on constituency projects and open government. The award is expected to enhance the participation of marginalized voices, build community accountability practices, and contribute to a reduction in corruption.
