A study by the MacArthur-supported Environmental Law and Policy Center identifies 400 Illinois companies that are engaged in the solar and wind industry supply chains as of 2015. The report includes company listings and profiles as well as information about state and federal policies that support the growth of renewable energy in the state. The report found that every megawatt of solar or wind power developed creates 15 to 20 manufacturing jobs. There are now 20,000 employees who work in Illinois’ wind and solar industries, and 13 wind power corporate headquarters are located in Chicago.
