state budget crisis report
The State Budget Crisis Task Force details the extent of states’ fiscal problems and fiscal sustainability in the wake of the global financial crisis. The MacArthur-supported report reveals that the magnitude of the problem for states is grave, with expenditures growing at rates that surpass feasible revenue. The Task Force concludes that the existing inflated state spending and taxation cannot be sustained and pose major threats to states’ ability to provide services to the public and invest for the future.
