Furman Urban Education report

In three of the four major federal housing programs, participating low-income households live near lower performing schools than other low-income households, according to a report by the Furman Center for Real Estate & Urban Policy at New York University, a MacArthur grantee.  The report, Do Federally Assisted Households Have Access to High Performing Public Schools, evaluates the elementary schools closest to families receiving federal housing assistance nationwide in each state as well as the 100 largest metropolitan areas.  Few studies have looked at the quality of the schools accessible to voucher holders or other assisted households.
