albertine rift landscape

A new book produced by the Wildlife Conservation Society and Albertine Rift Conservation Society, both MacArthur grantees, examines 11 research sites in Africa’s Albertine Rift Valley and finds that, despite decades of violence and insecurity in the region, strong management practices have preserved wildlife in its protected areas.  The Ecological Impact of Long-Term Changes in Africa’s Rift Valley also identifies challenges facing the region, including changes in climate, human demographics, and attitudes toward conservation.
