Mex-EarthquakeHandbook_200

A Spanish-language handbook offers practical recommendations for public policy that would help achieve a more complete reconstruction in the wake of Mexico City’s devastating 2017 earthquake. Sociedad Mexicana Pro Derechos de la Mujer, a MacArthur grantee, is working to strengthen the capacity of civil society to ensure that Mexico’s earthquake recovery and reconstruction resources reach the intended recipients. The organization, a recipient of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, engaged Ruta Cívica to compile and analyze the official regulations issued since the quake to inform residents of the policies and of their rights. The resulting handbook clarifies the City’s responsibilities, provisions for security and dignity during reconstruction, and oversight of the real estate and construction industries.
