Andes

Global climate change and rapid land use threaten the integrity of the Andean ecosystem, one of the top biodiversity hotspots on earth. The problem is compounded by a lack of analysis of climate change and vulnerability on a local scale, which could be of use to decision-makers and land use planners. A report from MacArthur grantee Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research examines advances in climate change analysis and presents a five-tiered approach to studying regions renowned for exceptional biodiversity. This approach is intended to support and guide adaptation measures and sustained conservation programs for key tropical environments.
