The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center has launched a website for its State and Local Finance Initiative, designed to expand and organize information about state and local government finance. The Tax Policy Center, a MacArthur grantee and winner of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, designed the site to provides state and local officials, journalists, and citizens with reliable, unbiased data and analysis about the challenges state and local governments face, potential solutions, and the consequences of competing options. The site is organized into three topic areas: Tax & Budget, Public Programs, and Intergovernmental Topics. It features data, research, and analysis to inform decisions about providing and paying for state and local government services as well as tools to make it easier for researchers and policymakers to access resources.
