The Partners for Places grant program, supported by MacArthur, has awarded ten communities a total of $562,000 for local improvement projects that involve partnerships between government and philanthropy. The projects range from an urban agriculture project by Hamilton, Ontario to address health, environmental issues, and food insecurity, to an effort by San Francisco to help keep its historic Chinatown neighborhood affordable and sustainable. The Partners for Places program is led by the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, a MacArthur grantee.
