A new report identifies some positive outcomes of the Preservation Compact, a MacArthur-supported affordable housing preservation initiative in Cook County. Progress includes lower property taxes for more than 5,000 rental apartments and initial financing for more than 1,500 at-risk units through the Preservation Fund, which is supported by a $10-million program-related investment. In addition, nearly 18,500 units were preserved through financial support from city, state, and federal agencies and the Community Investment Corporation, a nonprofit community development financial institution loan fund supported by MacArthur.
