The Mexican Supreme Court has agreed to review a case filed by MacArthur grantee Fundación para la Justicia y el Estado Democrático de Derecho to determine if, by denying access to investigation files, the Attorney General violated the rights of family members of deceased migrants. As detailed in a Spanish-language brief, in 2010-2012, more than 300 bodies of migrants were been found in mass graves in northern Mexico and the families of the deceased have repeatedly been denied access to case files. The Court’s ruling in the case may determine whether information on all gross human rights violations must be made public.
