Improving Energy Efficiency for California’s Low-Income Renters

California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation that aims to improve low-income renters’ access to energy efficiency programs by making renters and landlords eligible for repair and replacement of furnaces and hot water heaters under the utilities' Energy Savings Assistance Program. According to the California Partnership Corporation, a Foundation grantee focused in part on energy efficiency for multi-family properties, this legislation has the potential to realize significant energy efficiency savings for multifamily rental housing.
