city learning

The City of Chicago will expand its City of Learning Initiative to a year-round set of free activities and learning opportunities for all youth, providing them learning opportunities connected to their interests when school is not in session. Programs begin this year with the Mayor Emanuel's Spring Adventure with online and onsite activities with the Chicago Hive, Park District, Libraries, Museums, and more. As students engage in learning activities they will earn digital badges that represent their newly acquired knowledge and skills. The Digital Youth Network, a digital literacy program at DePaul University, will use a $1.5 million MacArthur grant to administer the program and serve an increasing number of the city's students.
