US Iran flags

A majority of Americans supports the broad outlines of an agreement with Iran to limit its nuclear program to civilian uses, according to a public opinion poll by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The MacArthur-supported survey found that six in ten Americans favor the framework of an agreement with Iran, with an equal majority also willing to use force — such as U.S. airstrikes — against Iranian nuclear facilities if Iran were to violate the deal. The survey, however, also found uncertainty about the lasting impact of a deal, with only three in ten Americans saying they are confident the agreement will prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons in the next ten years.
