This donation of $300,000 over three years to the Moscow Theater and Film Actors Guild supports a project to run three annual cycles of the annual Stalker International Human Rights Film Festival. Since 1995, the Moscow Theater and Film Actors Guild has run the Festival each year, beginning in December in Moscow, and subsequently traveling to other Russian regions. Foundation dollars fund salaries, administration costs for the festival (including rent of premises, costs of hiring films), publications and travel expenses.

2011 (3 years)
$255,000

A three-year grant of $255,000 has been awarded to Moscow Guild of Theater and Screen Actors in support of the prestigious Stalker International Human Rights Film Festival. The Festival, held in Moscow and a number of regional Russian cities each year, is independent of government and is both a celebration of human rights and a review, in the medium of film, of the changing human rights situation in Russia. It screens a large number of feature and documentary films that engage with important human rights issues, and also provides audiences with opportunities to meet directors, and hosts discussions with human rights defenders. The Festival is an inspiring and motivational event that has the potential to impact strongly on people’s lives.
